Community Events
Our first ever performance was after six months of practicing, when we played at the St Andrews church gala. In spite of the rain and confined conditions we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wai Taiko has also been happy to contribute our performance time as a sponsorship to particular community events including:

Star Events
Wai Taiko has been lucky to perform at some major events over our short lifetime! Highlights for us include:
- 2003 - Big Day Out! (Lilypad Stage)
- 2004 - NZ premiere of The Last Samurai in Taranaki
University Events
Wai Taiko is a well known face at the University of Waikato where we are based. We are very grateful to the University for their support of our group, with particular thanks to FMD, the Department of Humanities, and our new home in the School of Education - for all your help, support, and putting up with our noise!
We are regular performers at the main University events - Orientation week, Clubs Day & Open Day and would love for students to get involved. Come and chat with us after a gig, pop into a workshop / practice sometime or get a flyer from Department of Humanities (Japanese department).
Large Concerts
Wai Taiko has produced their own large scale concerts with great success.
- 2001 - Wai Taiko Concert with Ami Takeuchi
- 2003 - Taikollaboration - joint concert with Many Hands (ethnic fusion band) concerts in Hamilton and Auckland
- 2004 - Wai Taiko Concert (featuring Serious Muffin Ukelele band).
- 2008 - Taiko Festival NZ
- 2008 - Taste of Japan concerts as part of Ignition Fringe Festival
Out & About
Wai Taiko often travel outside of Hamilton to perform, and enjoy getting to share our love of taiko with all around us.
